The photo is a bit deceptive, or at least incomplete.

See, the photo makes it look like plastic, but it’s not. It’s salt. It’s heavy, rough, and irregular. It’s a big chunk of salt.

Instructions say to clean it with a damp cloth but I’m not sure that’s practical. It’s pretty rough. More importantly, it casts light

the color of the photo. The light is very warm, very orange. It’s NICE, but don’t buy it if you don’t want a warm light.

Also, the power cord is black. I’m dressing the cord along a white shelf against a white wall and would have wanted to know that.

Health benefits given the whole ‘ion’ thing? Not sure. I mostly wanted to warn you it has a black power cord. I like it plenty, and will buy one as a gift.

It’s really pretty awesome, looks great. I might even buy another for myself. No complaint at all (except for the doggoned black power cord!)

i am very happy with my two salt lamps. they are huge; they look wonderful with just a little xmas bulb. they are always “on” & working to improve my environment (i live off a main thoroughfare with a lot of traffic). i recommend this product both for its appearance and its health-giving properties. i already had one salt lamp that i got about 5 years ago. it is still operating, 24/7, and i think i changed the bulb only 2 or 3 times.

I’m sure the lamps would look good if they were not so beat up. I suppose I could blame the shipping co. But that would not be fair. The 2 lamps 30lbs, were in a flimsy cardboard box which was not sturdy enough for this weight. It was a little mangled. Inside I expected to find the lamps in nice boxes as most things come in, instead it was almost paper thin & totaly mangled & torn. No way I can use them. Others I have bought are always nicely boxed for gift giving. Worst of all the lamps are half white & looked scraped & salt is falling off.

This is no way to deliver a package. I won’t be giving these to anyone for Christmas.

A few years ago I became familiar with salt rock lamps and made my first purchase in 2007. Since then, I have been on a salt rock lamp craze!

These lamps emit negative ions (from my understanding), which aid in your overall well-being through assisting in mood elevation and overall peaceful feelings. I worked in a stressful environment during part of 2008/09 and bought one of these for my office to alleviate stress and it seemed to help. Many people that came to my office said it was so relaxing and they felt peaceful in there. I also disabled the florescent lights (bad for you!) in the ceiling above my desk, but that’s another story. ha

This one in particular is quite large and simply gorgeous! Each cut is unique and different for these lamps. I took four images of mine after I uwrapped it and have uploaded the pictures to the image gallery tied to this listing.

The lamp is large enough for a living room or family room. It provides a beautiful soft light and makes for a pleasant, calming night light as well. Pets love them and gravitate to where the lamps are. We had a parakeet (Paco) and kept a smaller salt rock lamp near his cage. He was the happiest bird and was so full of love and life! Also, our dog (Leo) and cat (Ricky) tend to find napping spots near one of the salt rock lamps. They are both very well-behaved and calm.

I am convinced that these lamps work. I know you will be pleased with this purchase.

I have had a lot of air purifiers and ended up throwing them out because they didn’t work.I sturmbled across the Himalyan salt lamp and decided to buy one just for the effect.

They ship by Fed-Ex Ground which helps a little with the freight and it arrived intact and easy to assemble.

I have had a slight allergy since I’ve had a cat(nothing serious just have to rinse my eyes out occaisionaly when reading and watching t.v.with kitty on my lap) and sometiimes have a cigar in the house.

I noticed after a couple of days that my eyes weren’t itching and the cigar smell disappeared!

I had figured the business about positive (or negative) ions was nonsense but this lamp made a believer out of me.

i bought mine from a shop in downtown San Diego a few years back and brought it back to Illinois with me on a plane, they almost didn’t let me due to the weight it caused my bag. Mine weighed about 16 pounds as it was a large one. It helps with sleep and air quality although for people like me that like dark, try to place it behind something or buy one with more dark spots, mine had more yellow than orange or pink. Light bulbs are easy to buy and replace.

I have heard about this from other people and was sceptical, but bought it anyway. It helped my husband sleep all the way through the night on the first night in the room. He usually has a rough time getting to sleep and staying alseep, grinding his teeth and is usually very restless…not anymore. I don’t wake up with headaches anymore either. My son wants one now for his room. Mine is a lot brighter than I had hoped, but putting a dark cloth over the top of it at night helps alot. I am recommending everyone get this whether they have problems sleeping or with headaches, or just plain stress (who doesn’t have this?) If I had to, would I buy it again? ABSOLUTELY!!!

I have had rock salt lamps for two years now–buying them for their suggested hype that they were good for health as well as a decorative nightlite. All three adults in my household, with health problems, noticed no difference in health, better sleep, etc., using these lamps.

However, as decoration, these lamps are absolutely beautiful and a stunning addition to anyone’s home. When choosing colors, don’t make the mistake of matching the lamp color to your decor–because the lighter the color you choose, the brighter the lamp is–making it useless as a nightlite for anyone having difficulty getting to sleep. For example, the red lamp, when lit, glows darker (best for bedrooms)–the orange/peach colors–very bright–like a beacon from a lighthouse (if kept in a bedroom). But, if the bright colors are kept in a living room instead, then the light is appropriate (not as glaring, especially when other room lights are on) and provides wonderful ambient lighting.
